BACK-TO-SCHOOL SHOES
Trees of Hope hosted our annual Back-to-School Shoe event on August 28th. Over a 100 homeless children at Star of Hope received a brand new pair of shoes to start the school year on the right foot. A special thank you to Sara Black VP of Events, Dick's Sporting Goods and Raising Cane's for making this possible.
MOTHER'S DAY
It is not a secret that Mother's Day was different this year, but a 140 moms were able to receive a wonderful care package at Star of Hope. Life can be difficult for a mother working toward a better life for her family. These care packages let them know they were loved supported and not alone.
A huge thank you to Upper Hand Salon, Raising Cane's and Golden Thread; because of their support each mom received a beauty product, nail care, a gift card for lunch and a personalized note.
MEALS 4 KIDS
Thank you to all our donors who supported the Meals 4 Kids campaign. Your donations provided 3,053 meals for the children at Star of Hope.
NEW YEAR NEW SHOES
A special thank you to all of our volunteers for another successful event! Star Hope's children were so excited to receive their new shoes just in time to go Back-to-School! FRENCH QUARTER FETE
What a magical night filled beautifully decorated trees! A huge thank you to all of our wonderful guests, sponsors, board members and volunteers for making this year's French Quarter Fete Gala a great success. We look forward to our 30th anniversary in 2020 and are excited about new opportunities and partnerships that will help us serve the homeless children at Star of Hope.
TREE DECORATING DAY
What a magical day spent decorating these fabulous trees that will be auctioned off at our gala next Friday. A very special thank you to Al Torres Photography for capturing the creative process and a huge thank you to our volunteers and especially our tree committee that transforms these trees from ordinary to spectacular in a day.
FALL WINE EVENT
The Fall Wine Event was truly a magical night! We are so grateful to Laura and Steve Jones, who opened their gorgeous home to host this event. We can’t thank you enough, Team Savage Houston, Edward Hua of Axis & Alibi and all of the generous donors enough for support for these last couple of events. The toys and donations that have been raised are both humbling and heartwarming. Trees of Hope Board members and volunteers helped fit over 125 homeless children at Star of Hope with new shoes.
We want to send a special thank you to Dick’s Sporting Goods, Purepoint Financial, Raising Cane's and Frost Bank for supporting our Back-to-School Shoe Event. The kids at Star of Hope were able to walk into the new school year with pride.
TREES OF HOPE ON GREAT DAY HOUSTON
Trees of Hope had the pleasure of attending the Great Day Houston show hosted by Debra Duncan. Vice President of Special Events Melissa Holton, Executive Director Ruth Githumbi, and Development Associate Micah Edwards attended a live taping of the show to promote the upcoming Mother's Day event. Star of Hope Program Service Coordinator Joscelynn Anderson accompanied two of the mothers that will be celebrated on May 4th at the Star of Hope Transitional Living Center. NEW YEAR NEW SHOES ON ABC 13
We are so thankful to everyone who was a part of our New Year, New Shoes event. It was a huge success, with over 250 pairs of shoes and socks purchased for children and teens at the Star of Hope Mission. We would especially like to thank our event sponsors, Texas Citizens Bank, for not only underwriting the event, but also providing amazing volunteers, as well as Sports Authority Post Oak, for always being a gracious host. Of course, the event could not have been such a success without the diligent work of the Trees of Hope volunteers and Star of Hope staff. We are so appreciative our your dedication to our cause!
